Xiomara MontXiomara Mont, 32 of New Haven, CT was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer with metastases to her liver and T12 spinal bone on April 14th, 2017.

Before her diagnosis, Xiomara worked for a local car dealership and had been perpetually complaining for two years about chronic back pain. She shared her frustrations with her primary care and her gynecologist and no one took her seriously. She even expressed to her gynecologist that she had lumps in her breast and was told that they were just cystic. They refused to do any type of testing because she was “too young.” However, they failed to acknowledge that she had a family history of breast cancer and had, had cervical cancer at the age of 25 after the birth of her second child.

Xiomara, determined to get answers called her insurance company to determine her eligibility for the tests she was so desperately trying to get. Her insurance company notified her that she was absolutely eligible.  She immediately called her doctors office and within 15 minutes got preauthorization for an MRI. On 4/10/17 she was told after two years of waiting that she had cancer because they found spots on her spine and her liver. She was relieved because now she knew that something was actually wrong.

Despite her diagnosis, Xiomara has chosen to stay positive because of her four children. She was also very recently married on 6/17/17 to her husband Nathanael. Xiomara recently completed her 11th round of chemo since her diagnosis and will be getting scanned again on 7/7/17. She has faith in God that the results will be positive. She would love the opportunity to take her children to Disney, as they have never travelled.
