Heather Bruno was our first Treasured Time recipient. She was a single mother in her 40’s who had breast cancer. She lived in Oxford, CT with her 3 children, Jessica, Lauren, and Tony. Heather was diagnosed in 2012 with lumps in her breasts as well as breast cancer in all her bones from head to toe. She was inoperable and was told she would be on chemo for the rest of her life. The doctors kept trying different drugs, trying to find one that worked. For the first time in 2 years, she got good news that the latest chemo had helped and that the cancer shrunk a bit. She and her family were so excited. Her kids were very understanding and they were involved in everything that happened. They talked about it all as a family and it had brought them closer. Heather was divorced a few years back, and as hard as that was to get by, she said this was harder. In July 2014, we were lucky enough to grant Heather’s wish to take her children to Disney to create a lasting memory. Unfortunately, Heather lost her battle with cancer on October 28, 2014, and we miss her dearly. Rest In Peace Heather.
